When Tall Pines Distillery opened its doors in 2014, it was the first legal moonshine distillery to open in Somerset County since Prohibition. Now, distilleries dot the Laurel Highlands landscape, bringing an abundance of shine, whiskey, vodka and other favorites to our region with a local flare!

Tall Pines exemplifies the spirit of the Laurel Highlands through their commitment to a grain to glass experience. This means that each Tall Pines bottle starts with local suppliers for the freshest ingredients, and are hand-crafted with traditional recipes to bring you an authentic Taste of the Highlands.

Every bottle sold is a testament to the farmers and distillers who rose up in 1794 for the Whiskey Rebellion, a Laurel Highlands-centered protest against the newly-formed United States which took exception to a whiskey tax. Today, our region celebrates this story of rebellion with 30+ locations of local beer, wine and spirits which can be discovered along the Laurel Highlands Pour Tour.

Today's Taste of the Highlands recipe starts with Tall Pines Cherry Pine Moonshine, combined with the rest of the ingredients below, to make a unique, refreshing cherry spritzer that's perfect for cookouts or warm summer nights. For more local flavor, we also recommend their Lumberjacked Apple and Maple Rye, made with the apple cider and maple that make our region a flavor destination for travelers.
