Overview

Do you have what it takes to carve the spookiest Jack-O-Lantern on this side of Route 30?  Prove it! The Seventh Annual Pumpkin Carving Contest will be held at Compass Inn Museum on Friday, October 28th, 2022. Families and individuals are encouraged to participate. Design it, carve it, and display it! There is no fee to enter.

You may carve your pumpkin freehand or use a pattern. Only carved pumpkins will be included in the judging this year. Painted pumpkins or pumpkins decorated any way other than carved will not be judged as part of this year’s contest. Finished entries need to be free-standing. Only battery-operated flameless candles are allowed to light the carved pumpkins.

Winners in each age category will be chosen by popular vote during “Hair-Raising History: Frightfully True Stories from the Ligonier Valley” tours that evening.  All entries will be on display during the weekend tours starting on Friday, October 28th and will be on display through Sunday, October 30th.

First, Second, and Third Place winners will be voted on in each of the three categories. Categories include Juniors (ages 12 & under), Adults (ages 13 & up) and Families (mixed ages).  First Place winners will receive $75, Second Place winners will receive $50, and Third Place winners will receive $25.  In addition, each winner will receive 2 free admissions to the October 30th “Hair-Raising History: Frightfully True Stories from the Ligonier Valley” tour. Please drop off your ghouliest gourd between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm Friday, October 28th at Compass Inn Museum. Although pre-registration is encouraged, walk-in submissions on October 28th will be accepted.
