Commemorating the Anniversary of the Great Johnstown Flood
Overview
Every year, lighting of the luminaria serves as a tribute to the victims of the flood. 2,209 candles are lit on the ruins of the South Fork Damn and on the farm of elias Unger, president of the South Fork Fishing and Hunting Club. The candles are lit at dusk on May 31st and burn for several hours.Â
