Flag Retirement Ceremony

On November 12th, Patriot Park bid a poignant farewell to the Field of Heroes Flag Display. With the onset of harsh winter weather in Somerset County, preserving the flags throughout the season becomes impractical. As tradition dictates, following Veterans Day, we honor these flags' service with a solemn retirement ceremony.

A Night to Remember

Our First Fundraising Dinner

We had it all: A fantastic venue (donated by Curt and Liz Wyandt) with a glorious view of the surrounding hills, the perfect speaker for a Veterans related event (American hero, Rocky Bleir), patriotic and upbeat background music (by singer Danner Conner and DJ Jan Jursa), dozens of veterans and their families among the sold-out crowd of 300, a delicious buffet (by Joey Del), and first-class drinks from Forbes Trail Brewery and Rusty Musket Distillery.

2022 Fund Drive

After many years of work, and thanks to the generosity of supporters like you, Patriot Park became a reality in 2021. But our work is not done.

Tens of thousands of brave servicemen and women have been wounded, and over 7,000 have made the ultimate sacrifice in the Global War on Terrorism. Our Nation owes them a debt of gratitude we can never fully repay—but we can do all in our power to honor them.

In Shanksville, Preserving the Memory of Flight 93 and 9/11

Shanksville, Pa. — When the plane crashed in the empty field north of town, the schools let out early. Katlin Rodriguez, 11 at the time, waited in a cafeteria full of crying and shocked classmates for her mother and stepfather to come and take her home. When they showed up, they had brought along a family friend.

About The Park

Patriot Park is a project beginning to take shape in Somerset County, Pennsylvania within the boundary of Flight 93 National Memorial.

The battle that raged onboard United Airlines Flight 93 on September 11, 2001, prevented what would have been another awful tragedy on an already tragic day. In fact, the passengers onboard Flight 93 can be referred to as, “the first combatants’ in what came to be known as the “Global War on Terror”. Since that infamous day, millions of Americans have bravely served in the military and over 7000 brave men and women have lost their lives in the Nation’s efforts to eradicate terrorism. Thousands more have suffered severe and debilitating injuries. Patriot Park has been conceived as a place where our gratitude can be expressed. The Field of Heroes Flag display contains one flag for each service man or woman who has died in the line of duty since 9-11. Over 7,000.
