Our final Evening on the Summit for the 2023 season is Saturday, October 14 at 8:00 pm. This free presentation, Enjoying the Night Sky, is presented by Dr. Martin Rice.

Join Dr. Martin Rice as he highlights how to locate and identify constellations in the night sky, techniques for observing features of the moon and more! We'll begin with a lecture in the Visitor Center followed by an outdoor observing session, weather permitting.

Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site

Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site is located 10 miles west of Altoona, Pennsylvania off the Gallitzin exit of US Highway 22. The park preserves portions of the first railroad crossing over the Allegheny Mountains. This unique railroad connected the eastern and western divisions of the Pennsylvania Main Line Canal.
