The "Fireside Chats" will take place in the quaint, cozy Common Room at Compass Inn Museum on March 7, 21, and April 11, 2024, from 1 to 3 pm. Each "Chat” will be apart of a continuing series at Compass Inn Museum where enthusiasts and experts on diverse topics will sit down with our guests to talk about their field of interest. Attendance at previous chats is not required.
Kicking off the series on March 7, Theresa Gay Rohall, Executive Director of Ligonier Valley Historical Society and Compass Inn Museum will discuss the ordinary woman of Compass Inn and the Ligonier Valley who did extraordinary things. It will be an inspiring afternoon celebrating the incredible achievements of everyday women of the past. Hear their stories, be inspired, and connect with like-minded individuals.
On March 21, join us for "Generations of Women Woven Together by Threads" a fascinating journey through the history of bobbin lace. Allie Marguccio, Master Idrija Bobbin Lace teacher will lead the discussion about the intricate techniques and beautiful designs that have been passed down through generations. Then on April 11, join us for Savoring the Moment: The History of "Taking Tea". Dive into the rich history of tea-drinking and savor the experience of enjoying a cuppa just like they did in the past. Tamra Steiner Niida, Ligonier Valley Historical Society and Compass Inn Museum, Head Museum Interpreter will take you on a journey through time, the cultural significance, and the rituals surrounding this beloved beverage.
