Ligonier Valley Historical Society’s Festival of Lights returns to Ligonier Town Hall for its 40th year. Festival of Lights will be held from Saturday, December 2 through Tuesday, December 5 from 9 am to 5 pm daily.
The Festival of Lights committee has been working fervently to plan the most magnificent Festival to date. Children young and old will enjoy celebrating the season by attending this holiday event where local residents trim Christmas trees, garlands, wreaths, and other treasures with sparkling lights and handmade decorations to be auctioned off with proceeds benefiting the Historical Society’s mission.
As is tradition, to kick off the whimsical Festival of Lights, the “Toast to the Trees” gala will be held on Friday, December 1 at 6:30 pm in the Community Room of Ligonier Town Hall. This festive night features delicious hors d’ouevres by Carol & Dave’s Roadhouse and a special holiday libation served by our guest bartenders, Colleen and Ron McDowell of The Road Toad.
“If you haven’t attended this event in the past, the four-day Festival of Lights is an opportunity to get your holiday spirit on while admiring the stunning hand-crafted decorative displays as well as take a respite from the hustle and bustle of your holiday shopping while eating cookies and sipping cider in the 'Hallmark Christmas movie' setting of Ligonier. The Community Room in Ligonier Town Hall becomes adorned with countless twinkling lights and a gorgeous array of beautiful Christmas trees, wreaths, garlands, and other magnificent holiday decorations that will fascinate and amaze you. Festival of Lights is one of our fundraisers to support the work we do to preserve the heritage and history of the Ligonier Valley for present and future generations through the operation of Compass Inn Museum and other programming at the Historical Society,” remarks Theresa Gay Rohall, Executive Director of Ligonier Valley Historical Society.
The cost to attend Festival of Lights is $5 for adults, $1 for youth (ages 5-12), and free for children ages 4 & younger. Proceeds from Festival of Lights will benefit ongoing educational programming, archaeological studies, and preservation initiatives at Compass Inn Museum.
