Art and music. The perfect escapes in what can be very grey winter months, especially in our time of isolating at home. This month’s Heritage Happenings episode is full of color, hope, and all-around joy.
I was so thrilled to talk with the Chief Curator at The Westmoreland Museum of American Art, as well as her work associate from the University of Pittsburgh, about their upcoming collaborative, student-led exhibition at the museum. Then, I had the privilege of talking about the forthcoming Front Row Season with the Executive Director of the Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra.
The episode begins with Professor Alex Taylor and Chief Curator Barbara Jones in conversation about their upcoming Pattern Makers exhibition at the museum. Professor Taylor’s graduate students from the University of Pittsburgh have been working closely with the museum to create this stunning display, and you won’t want to miss the story of how their idea came to life. And of course, Barbara gives us a nice overview of all the winter joy you can find both inside and outside of The Westmoreland.
Then, as always, it was a pleasure talking to Endy Reindl, Executive Director of the Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra. Even if this year’s Home for the Holidays concert may be delivered in a new way, Endy beautifully talks about what a privilege it is for the Symphony to continue performing for all of us during these stressful times.
