Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site and Johnstown Flood National Memorial begin winter hours of operation on December 1, 2024.
The following buildings will be closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays:
Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site

Johnstown Flood National Memorial
- Visitor Center
Beginning December 1, 2024, park buildings are open Fridays through Tuesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Daily hours of operation will resume on May 1, 2025. Park grounds and trails are open daily, year-round, from sunrise to sunset, weather permitting.

Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site
The park preserves portions of the first railroad crossing over the Allegheny Mountains. This unique railroad connected the eastern and western divisions of the Pennsylvania Main Line Canal.
Johnstown Flood National Memorial
Johnstown Flood National Memorial was created by Congress in August of 1964 to preserve the ruins of the South Fork Dam and to commemorate the 2,209 lives lost in the Great Flood.
