Join the Westmoreland Historical Society on Thursday November 9 for Candlelight Open House, a FREE after-hours event at Historic Hanna's Town to kick off the holiday season. The public is invited to a cozy evening by the fire at Hanna’s Tavern. Enjoy the ambience of flickering candlelight, roaring fires in the hearth, and the opportunity to sample tasty nibbles, wassail, cider, and other beverages.

Lanterns will light the path between Hanna’s Tavern and the Westmoreland History Education Center where you will find the Museum Shop brimming with unique gift and home décor ideas.  Seasonal and historically themed home décor will be featured along with unique handmade jewelry, scrumptious bread mixes, jams and jellies, history books galore for young and old, reproduction 18th century toys and games, Hanna’s Town themed keepsakes, and much more! In the spirit of Holiday Cheer, many items will be offered with 20% discounts.

The open house includes free admission to the current exhibit at the Westmoreland History Education Center “Westmoreland 250! Telling Our Story with 25 Objects.”

 

"Inside the Collections – New Donations in 2023"

 

The Annual Members Meeting of the Westmoreland Historical Society (WHS) will be held November 18 at 1:30 p.m. at the Westmoreland History Education Center at Historic Hanna’s Town. After a short business meeting to update members and the public regarding the state of the Society, Joanna Moyar, collections manager for the Westmoreland Historical Society will offer "Inside the Collections – New Donations in 2023". This Show & Tell format will use images and objects to tell the stories of some of the many items that have been donated to the Society in 2023.

The business meeting will include a vote by WHS members on the new bylaws approved by the Board of Directors. The proposed bylaws may be read on the WHS website: https://westmorelandhistory.org/about-us/
