LIGONIER – March will be filled with art, fun, and festive adventures for the whole family at the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art at Ligonier Valley.
March is Youth Art Month (YAM) and Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art wants to celebrate! SAMA Ligonier Valley will host a “YAM Celebration” on Saturday, March 22, from 11am to 1pm. A $5 fee, per family, will allow visitors to walk through the current 21st Century Art Exhibit, enjoying artwork from the more than two hundred pieces of student created paintings, prints and sculptures. Artist Pablo Picasso once said, “All children are artists. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.” It is in this spirit that we invite families to come celebrate art, children and the creative process. Art activities and snacks will be available for children and families to enjoy as you wander through our museum. Instructors will help children make artwork that can be taken home, creating a gallery of work in their own homes. Albert Einstein has said, “creativity is intelligence having fun”. Come to SAMA Ligonier Valley, have fun creating and learn something new Saturday, March 22, 2025. Pre-registration is encouraged but not required at https://www.sama-art.org/event-details/yam or by calling (724) 238-6015.
“Art Night at the Museum” will be hosted the first Thursday of every month starting on April 3, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Explore the world of art and learn something new! Each session will explore a different theme, material and idea. Our museum instructor will have materials and ideas ready for you to try, or you can bring your own project to share and work on. “Art Night at the Museum” is open to those just beginning to explore art, creative adventurers and experienced artists alike. Together we will learn about photography, sculpture, painting, drawing, artists, printmaking, journaling and the creative process. Those wishing to experiment, learn about, share and create art with different tools, materials, themes and inspiration are warmly invited to come to the museum. The cost for an evening of creating and experiencing individually created art is $5 per session. Pre-registration is required at https://www.sama-art.org/ligonier or by calling (724) 238-6015, as we need to prepare materials for all those attending.
