**Freeport, PA** – September 5, 2024 – The Freeport Theatre Festival is thrilled to announce the opening of Over the River and Through the Woods, a delightful family comedy by Joe DiPietro, co-directed by the talented duo Marushka Steele and Rennick Steele. This heartwarming production will run from September 13th through September 29th, with performances on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at 7:00 p.m.

Set in a charming barn theatre, the Freeport Theatre Festival is the perfect venue to enjoy this boisterously funny and deeply touching story about family, food, and faith—the three Fs that hold us all together. Over the River and Through the Woods, tells the story of Nick Cristano (Seth Change) who may be living the life of a modern young professional in New York City, but his loving grandparents, Frank Gianelli (Courtney Riffer), Aida Gianelli (Judy Zarra), Emma Cristano (Lisa Camerlo), and Nunzio Cristano (Joe Grillo), never let him forget where he belongs: in Hoboken, New Jersey! Faithfully, Nick goes “over the river” to Grandma’s house every week for Sunday dinner. When Nick is offered an important promotion in Seattle, Washington, his wily grandparents cook up a matchmaking scheme to give him a reason to stay enter, Caitlin O’Hare (Hannah Risch), the unmarried niece of Emma’s canasta partner! Will the prospect of true love keep Nick from moving across the country? Audiences will find themselves laughing, crying, and reflecting on their own family dynamics in this warm-hearted production.
