LIGONIER– The Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art in Ligonier is excited to announce a special “Moth Night” event at SAMA Ligonier. In collaboration with Penguin Court and Brandywine Conservancy, and Powdermill Nature Reserve, this wonderful event will run from 8:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2024. The family event is designed to enrich and educate children and adults on various moths/pollinators that fill the skies at night! The cost to attend is $5 and the proceeds will be used to help support the gardens and our special pollinators.
The evening will begin with an informative presentation by Entomologist Andrea Kautz and Alexis Thorbecke from Powdermill Nature Reserve. Afterward, you can participate in three different stations in the SAMA gardens to view our special visitors. Specially designed lights and sheets will be used to attract the moths. Experts will be on hand to identify the species and share their knowledge about creating habitats. Join us for a night out at the museum in the gardens and don’t forget to bring your cameras to observe and photograph our friendly night pollinators!
