LIGONIER – The Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art at Ligonier Valley will once again celebrate the work of local artists with the Southwestern Pennsylvania Council for the Arts 29th Annual Regional Juried Art Exhibition. On view November 15, 2024, through February 2, 2025, the exhibition features work by artists from the 19 southwestern counties of Pennsylvania. Featured works will span a variety of media, including acrylic, oil, pastel, photography, watercolor, wood, masonry, and many others.
Since its inception, the Southwestern Pennsylvania Council for the Arts Regional Juried Art Exhibition is known for its artists’ fresh and energetic creations. This yearly exhibit showcases the work of both young, returning and experienced artists. Emerging young artists’ will dazzle viewers with their ideas and use of materials while our established artists continue to create and inspire the exploration of art. SAMA Ligonier Valley has been honored to host this exhibition for more than twenty years.
Serving as juror this year is Becky Blosser. Becky earned her BFA from Millersville University and her MFA in Visual Arts from Mason Gross School of Art, Rutgers University. Currently the chair of the Fine Art Department at Pennsylvania College of Art and Design Becky is coming to us from Lancaster, PA. A printmaker, Becky creates work that shows the relationship between the natural world and the manmade world. You can view her work at: www.beckyblosser.com
To celebrate the exhibition, SAMA will host an opening celebration from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, November 16. The celebration is open to the public free of charge. For more information, please call the Museum at (724) 238-6015.
The Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art is located at One Boucher Lane & Route 711 South, Ligonier, PA 15658. The hours of operation are 12:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. The museum is an accessible facility and is open to the public free of charge.
