Whiskey Smash at West OvertonThe Whiskey Smash at West Overton Village and Museums in East Huntington on Nov. 19 was a sellout success.
Guests sampled whiskey and moonshine made by Black Draft Distillery in Martinsburg, W.Va., Christian W. Klay Winery and Ridge Runners Distillery in Chalk Hill, Disobedient Spirits in Homer City and Wigle Whiskey in Pittsburgh.
Entertainment was by Briar Rose and Friends, and appetizers and a pasta bar were from Carson's Premier Catering.
A toast was made to West Overton's return to distilling with an announcement by board president Rob Ferguson.
West Overton will begin making Old Farm Pennsylvania Pure Rye next year.
Rye grown on the property will be used in the distillation process on the old homestead, just as was done in the 1800s by Abraham Overholt.
Each attendee got a souvenir rocks glass bearing the Old Farm Pennsylvania Rye label.
