Evening on the Lake: The Unexpected Legacy of the Johnstown Flood: Lessons Learned and Applied to Modern Day Disaster Relief.

South Fork, PA- Our next Evening on the Lake program is Tuesday, July 25, at 7:00 pm in the historic Club House. Park Ranger Steven Lonergan will present The Unexpected Legacy of the Johnstown Flood: Lessons Learned and Applied to Modern Day Disaster Relief.

This program will explore how the Johnstown Flood created the framework of how Americans respond to disaster relief in the face of modern-day disasters. The way that Americans responded to the Johnstown Flood laid the groundwork of how we as Americans, through private donations, private charities and governmental forces respond to disasters. This program will demonstrate how this change happened and improved over time.

No reservations are required for this hour-long presentation. The Evening on the Lake series is sponsored by Friends of Johnstown Flood National Memorial.
