Join us at the Westmoreland History Education Center for our Women’s History Month speaker, Jessica Young, who will deliver an interactive discussion on “What to Wear to the Revolution: From the Inside Out.” Jessica specializes in historical clothing, accessories, sewing supplies, and do-it-yourself kits. She is well-known among Historic Hanna’s Town volunteers and the reenacting community as a reliable source of authentic reproduction 18th-century clothing supplies. Young is an engaging and knowledgeable speaker specializing in 18th-century fashion and lifestyle for women. This program blends nicely with our next exhibit in Kendra Gallery, “Cut from the Same Cloth: A Turn of a Phrase Explored through Historic Clothing Styles.”
Audience members will get to engage in Q&A and see “period pieces” on site, as well as images via PowerPoint. Her discussion also addresses 18th century etiquette, assembling outfits, period accuracy, and debunking common misnomers. Jessica Young is the owner of Penny River, LLC, in Trafford, which makes and sells historical costumes and accessories. Jessica’s items have been featured in the shows Bridgerton and Outlander.
