Latrobe, Pa.-- The Lincoln Highway Experience Museum will be open to the public for a free admission day on Monday, February 17th in honor of Presidents Day.
The Lincoln Highway Experience, located on Route 30 in Latrobe, is the largest museum in the country to share the history of the Lincoln Highway, the first coast-to-coast road in American history. The highway was dedicated in 1913 and named for America’s sixteenth president, Abraham Lincoln.
Spencer Simpson, manager of visitor services at the Lincoln Highway Experience, hopes the community will take this opportunity to see all the incredible exhibits at the museum. “The museum has only been open to visitors for about seven years, so many people in our area don’t realize what we have to offer,” Simpson says. “We are anxious to welcome the public for Presidents Day to raise awareness for the Lincoln Highway and our mission to educate the community on how to keep it alive.”
One of the many ways community members can support the mission of the Lincoln Highway Heritage Corridor (LHHC) is through memberships and volunteer opportunities. “So much of what we do is made possible by our volunteers,” says Lindsay Greene, digital marketing coordinator at LHHC. “We have been working to build our membership base and volunteer corps through email newsletters and social media outlets. It really is the best way to support our work on the Lincoln Highway.”
Visitors will have the opportunity to tour the museum at no charge, with a postcard, driving guide, cup of coffee, and slice of pie included while supplies last. All donations and gift shop sales benefit the Lincoln Highway Heritage Corridor. More information on supporting LHHC can be found at: https://LHHC.org/how-to-help/.
