Laurel Highlands Waterfalls

Waterfalls provide some of the most spectacular Instagram-worthy spots in nature, and the Laurel Highlands doesn’t disappoint, with dozens of opportunities to see these cascading beauties.

While waterfalls are plentiful and varied, some of the most popular spots include Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater, Cucumber Falls, Ohiopyle Falls, Jones Mill Run Dam, Cole Run Falls, and Adam Falls.

One of GO Laurel Highlands’ favorite spots includes Packsaddle Bridge. Pennsylvania has more than 200 covered bridges – including 10 in Somerset County – but none quite like this. That’s because the span is directly over a waterfall in Brush Creek. It’s hard to see it from the road, but the view is worth climbing down to the base of the waterfall, if you’re able.

Looking for something that’s close to one of the famed tourist attractions in the Laurel Highlands but still manages to be off the beaten path? Check out Fayette County’s Stewarton Falls, which is just a short drive from Fallingwater and is easily accessible, just a few feet from a dirt road.

Ever hear the saying “the whole is greater than the sum of its parts?” That’s definitely the case with Mill Creek Falls. The Westmoreland County cascade features several tiers – none of which is more than 4 feet high – that come together to make one impressive sight. It’s about a half-mile walk through State Game Lands 42 to reach Mill Creek Falls.
